What it tests
Answering naturally and at length on everyday topics, with a time limit on each turn.
Worked example
Question 1: Tell me about a shop or market you go to regularly.
Model answer
I go to the covered market near our flat almost every Saturday, mostly for vegetables and cheese. It opens early and it is busiest before ten, so I try to get there by nine. I have been going to the same two or three stalls for years.
Question 2: What makes you go back there rather than somewhere else?
Model answer
Partly the price, but mostly the people. The sellers know what I usually buy and they tell me honestly when something is not good that week. In a supermarket nobody would ever say that. The food is also fresher, because a lot of it comes in that morning.
How to do well
- Give an answer plus one detail for every question — "Yes, every Saturday, because…".
- Short turns go fast. Do not spend them on introductions.
- It is fine to answer from your own life. Specific beats general.
Practice at three levels
Our practice for this task comes in three levels you choose yourself: Foundation teaches the format, Standard is 12 sessions plus 12 full tests at the level most candidates aim for, and Hard is another 12 + 12 with academic topics and tighter wording. Progress is kept per level, so you can move up when the current one feels easy.
