Word order — SVOMPT
Subject–Verb–Object–Manner–Place–Time, using Unit 34 vocabulary.
English word order follows a pattern: Subject–Verb–Object, then Manner (how), Place (where), Time (when). Frequency adverbs go before the main verb. Every example uses this unit's word-order vocabulary.
A — How it works
SVOMPT: keep verb + object together, then add manner → place → time. Frequency adverbs (usually, always, never) go before the main verb but after 'be'.
1) Verb + object together, then M–P–T
Nothing splits the verb and object.
- The chef prepares meals carefully in the kitchen every evening.
- I buy fresh food at the supermarket on Saturdays.
- She answered the questions confidently at the office yesterday.
- We walked slowly to the landmark this morning.
2) Frequency adverbs before the main verb
usually, always, never, often.
- I usually walk to work.
- She always arrives early for interviews.
- They never serve breakfast after ten.
- He is often late (after 'be').
