Band 6.0 model answer
262 wordsAfter the pandemic, many companies decided that their staff can work from home permanently. This situation has several advantages, but it also creates some difficulties.
The main advantage is time. An employee who travelled two hours every day now has these two hours for his family, for sport or for sleeping, and he does not spend money on petrol or on train tickets. He is also less tired, so very often he works better.
Another advantage is freedom of location. A person can live in a small town where the flats are cheap and work for a company in the capital, and companies can employ the best specialist from any city. This is also very useful for people with a disability or for mothers with small children, because it is difficult for them to go to an office every day.
On the other hand, there are disadvantages. Young employees learn a lot from their colleagues in the office: they hear how an experienced person speaks with a client and they can ask a small question immediately. At home they are alone, so they learn much more slowly.
In addition, many people feel lonely, and some of them cannot separate work and rest, so they work until late in the evening. Also, the employee pays for the electricity, the heating and a bigger flat with a room for working, and the company saves this money.
In conclusion, working from home saves time and gives freedom, but it makes learning harder for young staff and moves some costs from the company to the employee.
