Band 6.0 model answer
214 wordsPeople have different ideas about the best way for children to study. Some think that the teacher must control everything in the lesson, and others think that children should decide what they want to learn. In my opinion, both methods are useful in different situations.
On the one hand, a structured lesson has many advantages. Children are young and they do not know which subjects are important for their future. The teacher is an adult with experience, so he or she can build the lessons step by step, from easy to difficult. Also, in a controlled class there is more discipline, and children who are lazy still have to work. Without this system, some students will only play and learn nothing.
On the other hand, freedom also helps children. When a child chooses a topic that he likes, he studies it with pleasure and he remembers it better. This method also teaches children to be independent and to make their own decisions, which is a very important skill for adult life.
In my opinion, small children need a strict structure because they cannot organise themselves, but older students should have more freedom. In conclusion, the best solution is to combine the two methods and to give more choice to children when they grow up.
