Band 6.0 model answer
249 wordsMany people today check their telephone every few minutes and feel uncomfortable if they leave it at home. There are several reasons for this behaviour, and there are also practical steps that a person can take.
The first reason is that applications are made to be interesting. Every time we open the phone, there is something new: a message, a photograph, a video. We never know what we will find, and this feeling of surprise makes us open the phone again and again, like a game.
The second reason is social. Today all communication is on the telephone: family messages, work groups, invitations. If a person does not answer for three hours, colleagues think that he is not serious and friends think that he is angry. So people keep the phone near them not only for pleasure but also because of pressure.
To change this, a person can put the phone in another room, especially during dinner and before sleeping. When the phone is far away, we do not think about it, but when it lies on the table, we look at it automatically.
Another useful step is to turn off notifications. Most notifications are not important, but every sound takes our attention, so without them we open the phone much less often.
In conclusion, people cannot leave their phones because applications are designed to be attractive and because society expects a fast answer, but keeping the phone in another room and turning off notifications can help a lot.
